AFTERCARE
Right after the tattoo
Tattoo aftercare is key to proper healing, and one of the easiest ways to protect your new ink is by using second skin. This thin, breathable film acts as a barrier against dirt, bacteria, and friction, helping your tattoo heal with minimal scabbing. We usually recommend keeping the second skin on for 1-2 days, depending on how your skin reacts and humidity conditions, then gently removing it in the shower and cleaning the area. Protect your tattoo from the sun until it is fully healed.
keep your tattoo clean and hydrated
Once the second skin is off, it’s important to keep the tattoo clean and moisturized. Wash it gently with unscented soap and lukewarm water, then pat it dry—never rub. Apply a thin layer of vitamin A + D ointment to keep the skin hydrated and promote healing. Avoid over-applying; too much moisture can suffocate the tattoo and lead to irritation or clogged pores.
Traveling with a new tattoo
If you’re traveling, be mindful of humidity levels, as they can affect healing. In dry climates, your tattoo may need more frequent moisturizing to prevent flaking or cracking. In humid environments, keep the area clean and dry to avoid excess moisture buildup, which can increase the risk of infection. Adjust your aftercare routine based on your surroundings to make sure your tattoo heals smoothly no matter where you are.
